4: Worthy Is the Lamb – Singing With Inspiration

January 22, 2019 By admin

Our first hymn for the week comes from our title:  Hymn 246, “Worthy, Worthy Is the Lamb” . This hymn also shines through in a number of verses in Sunday’s study. Sunday also gives us:  Hymn 408, “Lord, Enthroned in Heaven”  and  Hymn 82, “Before Jehovah’s Awful Throne”

Stitched With Love

January 9, 2019 By admin

Creativity, gifted to us by our Maker, manifests itself in many different ways. Typically we think of painting, film production, poetry, photography and songwriting as the primary forms of expression.

Highway to My Heart

January 8, 2019 By admin

It was a beautiful, sunny day. I had the music up, the window rolled down, and was tapping my finger on the steering wheel as I cruised along the highway. The Christian radio station I was tuned in to started another praise-worship song that I liked. Suddenly, in my mind, the focus of the song flipped. My eyes welled up with tears, and I had to pull off to the side of the road …

Rewind << I was nine years old when I first stepped into the baptismal tank, along with several other students from my school. We had studied all the beliefs and doctrines of the church; but, at least for me, the knowledge had reached my head, but not really touched my heart.

Life carried on. I went on through high school, college, and began a career and a family. I wasn’t rebellious — outwardly. I was ‘good’ and was attending church regularly. My kids were in church. My wife and I volunteered with various church ministries. Yet, something (Someone) was missing.

Skip Forward >> Now, parked along the side of the highway, with tears streaming down my face, I really heard the lyrics for the first time. It was as if Jesus was singing this song directly to me!

Draw me close to you
never let me go
I’d lay it all down again
to hear you say that I’m your Friend

You are My desire
no one else will do
’cause nothing else could take your place
to feel the warmth of your embrace
Help me find the way
[to] bring me back to you

You’re all I want
You’re all I’ve ever needed
You’re all I want
Help me know you are near

He desired me! He needed me! The warmth of His embrace enveloped me …

Jesus still desires, needs, and embraces me today, and I Him!

The study goes on to say that John was provided assurance of Christ’s presence and care : Hymn 462, “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine!” John was on Patmos because of his faithfulness to the gospel: Hymn 602, “O Brother, Be Faithful” . Here are some hymns that can be sung for the Monday topic of “On the Lord’s Day” (The Sabbath): Hymn 381, “Holy Sabbath Day of Rest” ,  Hymn 388, “Don’t Forget the Sabbath” , and  Hymn 390, “We Love Thy Sabbath, Lord” . 1: The Gospel From Patmos – Singing With Inspiration

January 1, 2019 By admin

A Happy New Year, and welcome to 2019. “Blessed is he who reads….” says our Memory Text –  Hymn 272, “Give Me the Bible” . In the Bible, God’s word is written for us –  Hymn 351, “Thy Hand, O God Has Guided” . Our Sabbath afternoon introduction goes on to say we are to obey the teaching –  Hymn 590, “Trust and Obey”  which then provides guidance –  Hymn 538, “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” . On Sunday, The Revelation of Jesus brings us  Hymn 245, “More About Jesus, I Would Know” .
