Have you ever felt you are not talented enough to work for the Lord? You may reason that because you don’t have pastoral training or haven’t learned to preach that your efforts are not needed or won’t be of any use. Nothing could be further from the truth. I like to think that one reason God created two humans at creation (other than for procreation) is because one person alone cannot fully display God’s character to the universe. God started with two representatives and He has been using people for this purpose ever since. In these last days, the character of God will be best represented by His people, the church. The Bible speaks of the church as the body of Christ, a holy temple that is built of many members. Again, it takes many people of varying talents to fully represent Christ. Sometimes a preacher is needed. At other times, a plumber can “minister” to someone in need. No one wants to hear a sermon when their sewer is backed up, but they will believe a plumber committed to serving others honestly to be just the miracle they needed. What talents do you have? Are you using them to serve the Lord? Ask God how you can show Jesus to others as you use the talents He has given you. “The Lord has a place for every one in His great plan. Talents that are not needed are not bestowed.”—Testimonies for the Church 9:37. ChS 99.3 Karen D. Monday: The Creation
ReadΒ Genesis 1:4,Β Genesis 1:10,Β Genesis 1:12,Β Genesis 1:18,Β Genesis 1:21,Β Genesis 1:25,Β Genesis 1:31, andΒ Genesis 2:1-3. What is the significance of the refrain βit was goodβ in the first Creation account? What is the implied lesson contained in the conclusion of CreationΒ (Genesis 2:1-3)?
At each step of the Creation account, God evaluates His work asΒ tov,Β βgood.β It is generally understood that this adjective means that Godβs work of Creation was successful and that Godβs observation that βit was goodβ means that βit worked.β The light was illuminatingΒ (Genesis 1:4). The plants were yielding fruitΒ (Genesis 1:12)Β and so forth.
But this word referred to more than the efficiency of a function. The Hebrew wordΒ tovΒ is also used in the Bible to express an esthetic appreciation of something beautifulΒ (Genesis 24:16). It is also used in contrast to evilΒ (Genesis 2:9), which is associated with deathΒ (Genesis 2:17).
The phrase βit was goodβ means that the creation was working nicely, that it was beautiful and perfect, and that there was no evil in it. The world was βnot yetβ like our world, affected by sin and death, an idea affirmed in the introduction to the second Creation accountΒ (seeΒ Genesis 2:5).
This description of the Creation radically contradicts the theories of evolution, which dogmatically declare that the world shaped itself progressively through a succession of accidental happenings, starting from an inferior condition to a superior one.
In contrast, the biblical author affirms that God intentionally and suddenly created the worldΒ (Genesis 1:1). There was nothing happenstance or chancy about any of it. The world did not come about by itself but only as the result of Godβs will and wordΒ (Genesis 1:3). The verbΒ baraβ,Β βcreate,β translated in Genesis 1:1-31 as in the beginning God βcreatedβ the heavens and the earth, occurs only with God as its subject, and it denotes abruptness:Β God spoke, and it was so.
The Creation text informs us that βeverythingβ had been done thenΒ (Genesis 1:31), and according to the Creator Himself, it was all judged βvery goodβΒ (Genesis 1:31).Β Genesis 1:1Β states the event itself, the creation of heaven and earth; andΒ Genesis 2:1Β declares that the event was finished. And it was all completed, including the Sabbath, in seven days.
| Why does the idea of billions of years of evolution completely nullify the Genesis Creation story? Why are the two views incompatible in every way? |

1: The Creation β Teaching Plan
Key Thought: The Bible Bible begins with Godβs acts of creation. The creation marks the beginning of human and Biblical history.
April 2, 2022
1. Have a volunteer read Genesis 1:1-4.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.

- What is the significance of the phrase βit was goodβ in the Creation account?
- Personal Application: Why was faith the first thing God created? What kind of light was it since He didnβt create the sun, moon, and stars until the fourth day? Share your thoughts..
- Case Study: One of your relatives states, βI thought it took billions of years for the earth to be made. Didnβt God make everything and let it evolve? Doesnβt the science and rocks and fossils and humans show we evolved over a long period of time?β How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Exodus 20:8-11.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- Why is the seventh day Sabbath related to Creation?
- Personal Application: How does keeping the Sabbath impact our belief in the six-day Creation story? Share your thoughts
- Case Study: One of your friends states, βWhy do you seventh-day Sabbath now? Isnβt Jesus our rest today? Donβt we rest in Jesus until He comes again? What significance does keeping the seventh-day Sabbath mean today since Creation is complete, Jesus has come and will come again?β How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Genesis 1:26-29, 2:7.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is the connection between these two different versions concerning the creation of humanity?
- Personal Application: What has God given you? What are your responsibilities with what He has given you? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: βIn what way did God give us the dominion over the earth and what are our responsibilities to it? What does it mean to subdue the earth?β How would you respond to your relative?
4. Have a volunteer read Genesis 2:15-17.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What is manβs duty toward Creation and toward God? How are these two duties related to each other?
- Personal Application: What would be the quality of our faith if we believed the Creation account was just a story or illustration instead of literal history? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this weekβs lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.

1: The Creation β Singing with Inspiration
Welcome to the second quarter of Sabbath School Lessons
The book of Genesis offers us so many and vast topics from which to choose a theme hymn. As we are starting at the very beginning, I would like to give praise to our Creator of heaven and earth in singing
Hymn 320 β Lord of CreationΒ andΒ
Hymn 2 β All Creatures of Our God and King. The stories that follow creation will lean back towards our amazing God and what He has done for each of us in creation.
As the earth was created each day by our loving God, there are many things for which we are thankful:
Hymn 111 β It Took a Miracle,
Hymn 98 β Can You Count the Stars?,
Hymn 97 β Lord of the Boundless Curves,
Hymn 96 β The Spacious Firmament,
Hymn 640 β For Beauty of Meadows,
Hymn 94 β Nature With Open Volume Stands,
Hymn 95 β Spring Has Now Unwrapped,
Hymn 93 β All Things Bright and Beautiful,
Hymn 640 β For the Beauty of the Earth, and
Hymn 92 β This is My Fatherβs World.
Creation is crowned with the Sabbath Day we all cherish (Tuesday). Once again, we are blessed with some many hymns from which to choose:
Hymn 381 β Holy Sabbath Day,
Hymn 382/383 β O Day of Rest and Gladness,
Hymn 390 β We Love Thy Sabbath, Lord, to name just a few.
It was with joy that Adam and Eve, even though having just been created (Thursday) couldΒ
Welcome, Day of Sweet Repose β Hymn 380.
Godβs abundant blessings as we study through the first book of the Bible which our gracious God has given. May we be faithful and all say βCome, Lord Jesus, come β very soonβ so we are able to go to our new home in Heaven.
To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at:Β https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
AnotherΒ great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing,Β but canβt find it in your hymnal. Go toΒ https://www.sdahymnal.orgΒ and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV –Β βStudy to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.β

Because God is just, He calls His people to be just and fair in their dealings with each other. Expanding on the ninth commandment, “Do not bear false witness,” Israel is advised that this injunction is not limited to court behavior. Our everyday interaction is to be free of false witness, gossip or joining others in spreading slander. We should not follow the crowd and be influenced by peer pressure, but we are to make our own judgments and stand for the right. If Israel remains faithful to God, He will send His Angel, Christ (PP 232, 311, 366) to go before them. The covenant at Sinai concludes with the promise of God’s intervention in Israel's battles to conquer Canaan. Israel is assured that God himself will send His fear before them, and He will destroy by sending hornets to drive out the Canaanite nations. In this promise of deliverance Israel is instructed to trust God in the work that He would accomplish. Often in our lives today we seek to do what God wants to do for us. Are we willing to trust Him to go before us so that we can be witnesses of His mighty acts? Michael Hasel
