In the turbulent times we are all currently traversing, Seventh-day Adventists everywhere are also pondering what impacts the health and economic crises of the moment are having upon the Church. Is the Church able to do anything to mitigate its effects?
Most nations of the world and vast areas of their economies have been all but shut down, with no clear road map to re-entry, even in places that have cautiously implemented a loosening of social restrictions. What started as a mild inconvenience…

Playful ideas for children during quarantine
As a result of the suspension of classes in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the recreation of children and the management of their learning is now handled within each home, presenting new challenges for each family. The restrictions now imposed on our lives lend us to hearing and saying “NO” more often than perhaps we’d like.
The writer Ellen White points out in relation to children and their entertainment that “we must provide them with innocent recreation, to lead them along pleasant…

Self-Attack: Fight Back! | LEVEL UP Episode 2, by AWR360° Health

Nearly 5 million people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 323,000 have died. With new symptoms and complications arising, and a lack of verified treatment, physicians and scientists are puzzled and frustrated. Why are some adult patients developing respiratory failure with ARDS while others are struck with systemic vasculitis with resultant thrombosis (blood clots) and resultant heart attacks and strokes? Additionally, despite early expectations that children were not at particular risk for COVID-19, recent reports from Europe and New York indicate that school-aged children and teenagers are developing a rapidly declining life-threatening complication referred to as Kawasaki-Like Syndrome or Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), also with vasculitis and cardiac involvement. Some have proposed that the link between vasculitis in the pediatric and adult population seems to be autoimmune, or a self-attack of the immune system, but why? What is the best form of prevention and treatment for COVID-19 self-attack? High meat consumption has long demonstrated a worsened autoimmune response. In contrast, a plant-based diet has been shown in many cases to be protective and therapeutic. Does this apply to COVID-19? What historical and biblical basis is there regarding the benefits of diet and nutrition in autoimmune self-attack? On May 24, medical experts including Dr. Steve Lee, Pastor Mark Finley and Dr. Ugonna Woods will address these tough questions and more while inspiring you with hope for the future. Join me for this week’s exciting LEVEL UP program, titled, “Self-Attack: Fight Back” Sunday at 5 p.m. Pacific / 8 p.m. Eastern at awr.org/health. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC9oY4zyfRY
