Monday: According to the Order of Melchizedek

January 30, 2022 By admin

ReadΒ Genesis 14:18-20Β andΒ Hebrews 7:1-3. Who was Melchizedek, and how did he prefigure Jesus?

Melchizedek was both a king and priest. He was also superior to Abraham, since Abraham paid him tithe. Likewise, Jesus is king and priestΒ (Hebrews 1:3); unlike Melchizedek, however, Jesus was sinlessΒ (Hebrews 7:26-28).

Hebrews 7:15Β explains that Jesus was priest β€œin the likeness of Melchizedek” (NKJV). This is what the earlier expression in Hebrews, β€œaccording to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 5:6, NKJV), means. Jesus was not a successor of Melchizedek, but His priesthood was similar to his.

For instance, Paul says that Melchizedek was without father, mother, genealogy, birth, and death. Some have suggested that Melchizedek was an incarnation of Jesus in the time of Abraham. But this thought does not fit the argument of Hebrews. Melchizedek β€œresembles” Jesus (see ESV), which implies that He was different from JesusΒ (Hebrews 7:3).

It has also been suggested that Melchizedek was a heavenly being, but this would destroy the argument of Hebrews. If Melchizedek were without father, mother, beginning, or end, he would be God Himself. This poses a problem. Melchizedek’s heavenly, fully divine priesthood would have preceded the ministry of Jesus. If this were the case, as Hebrews says, β€œwhat further need would there have been for another priest to arise” (Hebrews 7:11, ESV)?

Instead, Hebrews uses the silence of Scripture regarding Melchizedek’s birth, death, and genealogy to buildΒ a typology,Β symbol, for Jesus’ priestly ministryΒ (Genesis 14:18-20)Β and reveals that Jesus Himself was eternal. In short, Melchizedek was a Canaanite king-priest who served as a type of Christ.

β€œIt was Christ that spoke through Melchizedek, the priest of the most high God. Melchizedek was not Christ, but he was the voice of God in the world, the representative of the Father. And all through the generations of the past, Christ has spoken; Christ has led His people, and has been the light of the world.” β€” Ellen G. White,Β  Selected Messages, book 1, p. 409.

What does the revelation about Melchizedek teach us about how God works among those who have never had human missionaries preach to them?

God of Choice or No Choice? | January 30, 2022

January 30, 2022 By admin

There are only 2 choices. 1) God is willing to give people the freedom of choice with the risk of them choosing wrong and the joy of them choosing right. 2) God will not give people the freedom of choice to ensure they never choose wrong and always choose right. Which would you prefer? Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4vWtQO1fvs

6.JESUS, THE FAITHFUL PRIEST
Two magnets in the opposite direction are pushed off. The same effect happens between sin and God.

Memory Text: Hebrews 7:26 – For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens

6.2 According to the Order of Melchizedek
Jesus cannot be measured according to earthly measures.

My God bless you today and always.

Giving God the freedom to transform us according to His will. #shorts

January 30, 2022 By admin

God plays an important part in the process of our complete transformation. We partner with God to become more like Him. We allow Him to change us, for He is always at work in us. When we dedicate our lives to Christ, our eternal path is changed and life takes on new meaning. God loves us at all stages of our lives. He wants us to grow and continue to mature. God wants to transform us, and He desires to create us new, in His image. Allow God to change you into someone more like Jesus. #shorts #ChangeWithGod #ChooseGod #CompleteTransformation Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upXKru-U_e4

Genesis 17 | Believe His Prophets | Daily Bible Reading Guide πŸ•Š

βœ… Friends, Share with others and Subscribe to our channel – https://www.youtube.com/c/revivereform
Commentary by Kathlyn Mayer:
"While Abram doubted God’s promise, God continued reminding him of His covenant. God changed Abram’s name to Abraham to reflect how God saw he would become—“a father of many nations.” Sarai’s name was changed to Sarah, reflecting her future as well. God wanted their names, their very identity, to be wrapped up in His miraculous promise. God sees us as who we will become even when we cannot see it ourselves. It is in this intimate moment of reassurance that God gives Abraham instructions for fulfilling his side of the covenant. Through the physically altering commitment of circumcision, each male descendant and household member would bear the mark of the promise. Abraham didn’t question this command. Instead, he expressed doubt Sarah would conceive. Abraham couldn’t fathom the fulfillment of God’s promise, and presented his own offering, asking for that to be enough. While God graciously blessed Ishmael, He made it very clear the covenant was meant for Sarah’s future son, Isaac. God maintained that he could do the impossible. We too often struggle to accept God’s far-reaching promises, and while God will bring something out of our mistakes, He never forgets the original promise He made." ❀️ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/17 Our accounts in other social networks:
