The term "guarding grace" refers to how believers must actively protect and maintain the gift of God's grace in their lives. God's grace is freely given, and we cannot abuse or take the gift of grace for granted. Grace is the unmerited favor and forgiveness of God. It is given to us freely through faith in Jesus Christ, saving us from the penalty of sin. As believers, however, we are still vulnerable to sin and temptation, and our fleshly desires can lead us astray. This is where the concept of guarding grace comes in. We must be vigilant against sin and temptation and work actively to maintain our relationship with God. This week Pastor Ted continues discussion on chapter nine of The Great Controversy, “The Swiss Reformer” in which Ulric Zwingli is faced with a dilemma that many still are confronted with today; that is, believing the sophistry offered by the world or relying on the pure word of God. Seventh-day Adventists, along with the many great Reformers such as Martin Luther, Ulric Zwingli, and more, accept the Bible as it reads, asking for the Holy Spirit's guidance, comparing Scripture with Scripture, and allowing it to interpret itself.
