Lesson 6 Motivation and Preparation for Mission – 6.4 “Whom You Crucified”

November 7, 2023 By admin

The fact that even those who were complicit in Jesus’ death were offered forgiveness and redemption is of great significance and should encourage and motivate us in various ways:
  1. Encouragement for Personal Salvation: This fact underscores the immeasurable grace of God and His willingness to redeem even the most sinful people. It reminds us that there is no sin too great to be forgiven by God, as long as we show sincere repentance and seek forgiveness. This should encourage us to deepen our own relationship with God and trust in His forgiveness and mercy.
  2. Motivation for Evangelism: If people who denied or were involved in the crucifixion of Jesus were offered forgiveness, then there is hope for everyone, regardless of their past. This should motivate us not to write off or judge anyone but rather to courageously and lovingly share the gospel. Our mission is to bring the saving message of Jesus Christ to the world and encourage people to repent and seek forgiveness.
  3. Humility and Gratitude: The realization that God grants us His grace and forgiveness, regardless of our merits, should lead us to humility and gratitude. We acknowledge that we ourselves rely on God’s undeserved kindness and that His love and mercy have reached us. This gratitude should inspire us to pass on this love and tell others about the saving power of Jesus.
In conclusion, the story of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the repentance of those involved in Christ’s death is a powerful testimony to the infinite grace of God and the transformative power of the gospel. It reminds us that salvation is accessible to all and that as Christians, we play an important role in spreading this good news in the world.

The Great Controversy | The Invisible Battle and Our Protection (The Conflict on Earth)

November 6, 2023 By admin

The book of Job unveils a dimension of life that goes beyond our human senses, eyes, and ears. It reveals a reality that extends far beyond the scope of worldly philosophies. It’s a book that lifts the veil and provides us with a view of a conflict between God and Satan, one that unfolds not only in heaven but also on earth.
The battle between good and evil, light and darkness, is evident not only in Job but throughout the entire Bible. Various biblical passages indicate a conflict’s reality playing out on earth involving supernatural forces. They reveal the existence of an adversary of God working against good through his malice and deliberate actions.
The narrative of Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis reveals the subtle yet corruptive nature of temptation brought forth by Satan. Also, in the Gospels, we see Satan tempting Jesus, attempting to thwart His divine path. Furthermore, in the New Testament letters, we are warned that the devil roams around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.
The reality of Satan’s influence in our world is evident. We see his influences in temptations, divisions, mistrust, and malice. Yet, it’s crucial to understand that Satan’s power is limited. Amidst this conflict we find ourselves in, we have protection—our faith in God.
Our sole protection against Satan’s cunning attacks lies in believing in God’s promises, the power of prayer, the Bible as our sword of truth, and the community of believers. It’s the ability to walk in the light of truth and to stand firm in God’s presence that shields us from the wiles of evil.
Amid this invisible battle, let us be aware that we are not defenseless. Through our faith in God and our connection with Him, we can repel Satan’s attacks. Let us not succumb to the deception of denying Satan’s existence, but let us put on our armor and live in faith in God’s protection.
May God’s grace and wisdom strengthen and protect us in this invisible battle.

Lesson 6 Motivation and Preparation for Mission – 6.3 Waiting and Mission

November 6, 2023 By admin

The lessons from the waiting period of the disciples in Acts 1 are valuable in strengthening our own faith and readiness for mission. Here are some steps on how we can wait on God and simultaneously make meaningful use of our time:
  1. Community and Prayer: Like the disciples, we should gather in community with other believers and pray together. This strengthens our faith and connection with God and fellow believers. We can pray for wisdom, strength, and guidance to fulfill the mission God has for us.
  2. Stay Aligned: While waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promises, it is important to align our perspective with what God wants to do in our lives. We should be aware that we are part of God’s larger plan and be prepared to accept His guidance.
  3. Preparation and Planning: The disciples prepared logistically for their mission by selecting a replacement for Judas. Similarly, we should prepare for our missionary activities, whether it’s planning outreach programs, training community members, or utilizing our resources to proclaim the gospel.
  4. Patience and Trust: Waiting for God’s timing can sometimes be challenging, but it’s important to have patience and trust that God will fulfill His promises. Our faith is strengthened when we trust that God is at work during our waiting period.
  5. Active Engagement: While waiting for God’s intervention, we should not be idle but live actively in our faith and drive the mission forward. This might involve serving people in our surroundings, sharing the gospel, and seeking opportunities to bring God’s love into the world.
The waiting period can be a time of growth and preparation. By waiting on God and actively engaging, we can strengthen our faith and better prepare for the fulfillment of the mission God has for us.

The Great Controversy | The Invisible Battle and the Light of Faith (The Cosmic Conflict)

November 5, 2023 By admin

The initial chapters of the book of Job provide us insight into two different realities that appear seemingly detached but are deeply interconnected: the earthly and the heavenly sphere. Initially, Job’s life on earth is portrayed as harmonious and full of blessings. However, the focus suddenly shifts to a scene beyond human sight, to the heavens, to an arena of cosmic confrontation.
In these verses, an incredibly profound cosmic conflict is revealed. It’s a confrontation between God and one of His created beings, Satan. A confrontation presented to us with an unusual openness and challenging tone. Satan, rebellious and scornful, questions Job’s faith. The heavenly scene becomes a place of conflict where questions of faith and loyalty are challenged.
It’s hard to imagine a creature daring such a challenge in the presence of God. Yet, a deeper truth is unveiled here, one that runs through the entire Bible—the great battle between good and evil, light and darkness.
This invisible battle directly affects earthly events. It not only explains the tragedies and suffering on earth but also God’s plan for redemption. This conflict is the key to understanding why Jesus died on the cross for us. It’s the answer to why evil exists in a world seemingly created by God.
In our daily reality, we may not be aware of this invisible confrontation. Yet, this book and other parts of the Bible bring this reality of the cosmic conflict to our attention. It reminds us that behind the visible events in our lives, there exists a larger context—a battle between good and evil that impacts us, even if we do not directly perceive it.
Amid this invisible battle, we can, however, look towards the light of faith. It is the belief in God’s goodness and mercy that gives us hope in the midst of this conflict. It reminds us that God is at work to defeat evil, offering us hope and redemption.
May this knowledge encourage us to remain steadfast in our faith, cling to God’s promises, and walk in the light of faith, even when the invisible battle becomes apparent to us.
May God’s grace and guidance assist us in this battle of faith.

Lesson 6 Motivation and Preparation for Mission – 6.2 A Prophetic Foundation

November 5, 2023 By admin

The passage in Luke 24:36-49 is indeed crucial in deepening the apostles’ understanding of what happened with Jesus and His message. Here, they not only gain certainty about the resurrection of Jesus but also understand the connection between the prophetic foundations and His work, which should strengthen their mission and proclamation.
Knowledge of the prophecies pointing to the first and second comings of Christ is of great importance to Christians. Firstly, they make it clear that Jesus did not appear in history by chance but that His coming had long been foreseen in God’s plan. This strengthens faith and reveals divine continuity and providence in history.
Especially in the end times, the prophecies are significant as they help us recognize the signs of the times and understand the significance of current events in light of biblical prophecies. This understanding is crucial for shaping the mission effectively as it establishes the faith and message of Christians on a solid foundation. It helps to recognize the urgency of proclaiming the gospel in a world working towards the fulfillment of these prophecies.
Furthermore, understanding the prophecies enables Christians to maintain hope in the second coming of Christ and prepare for eternity. It reminds us that ultimately, God’s plan for the redemption of the world will be fulfilled, and believers can be part of this redemptive plan.
Overall, the knowledge of the prophecies and their understanding is crucial for the mission as it strengthens faith, illustrates the urgency of the message, and prepares believers to proclaim the gospel in a world awaiting the fulfillment of God’s promises.
