Jaslene hated the Philippine military. They had killed her husband and carted off his body, never to be seen again. On that day, she lost her husband, and her two young sons lost their father. This hardened Jaslene’s heart, and she vowed to raise her children to be the best fighters possible to avenge their father’s death. By 13, her older son had joined the NPA guerrillas, and his younger brother soon followed. It seemed like their future course was set. But God was about to intervene in their lives in a spectacular way. There was one possession Jaslene treasured above all others: her beautiful radio. It was her constant companion, especially after her sons left home to join the guerrillas. One day, as she turned the dial, she came upon an unfamiliar station. It was Adventist World Radio. What happened next changed the course of their lives and turned her hatred and bitterness into forgiveness. Watch this video for the rest of the story. It was dark as we bounced and bumped along the potholed road to an out-of-the-way lodge near Livingstone, Zambia. We had tried to book a hotel in the city, but there were no vacancies due to a government convention. When we finally found a room in a lodge outside the city, we’d jumped on it, no questions asked. Now we were regretting our decision. We had flown to Livingtone to meet with union leaders and pastors to plan one of the largest evangelistic events ever held in Zambia. Surely, the devil wasn’t happy and was trying to prevent it. But what we didn’t know is that God had a plan all along, because in that lodge in the middle of nowhere, we found the one person who made it possible for Adventist World Radio to begin its cell phone evangelism project four years ago. Today, millions around the world are listening to truth-filled messages on their cell phones. It was an outcome no one could have predicted, but God’s providence ordained it. A few team members from Adventist World Radio have just returned from Nazareth, Israel. In this video, Kyle Allen of AWR360° gives you a firsthand look at the AWR360° Life Hope Center. In the place where Christ once walked, many people still need to hear about Him. Meeting people where they are, the AWR360° Life Hope Center in Nazareth will bring hope and healing through medical presentations, English classes and Bible seminars. An on-site radio station will also broadcast to the four surrounding nations in their native Arabic tongue. This is the first Arabic-speaking Seventh-day Adventist church in the history of Israel! It's a huge milestone for the completion of God's work in this region. Israel is defined in the Bible in detail in the book of Ezekiel as a land where both the 12 tribes and the "strangers in (their) midst" can claim inheritance. May many souls claim their inheritance in heaven because of the work being done by the AWR360° Life Hope Center. At this point, 500 million Arabs could potentially be reached through the broadcasting of the on-site radio station! The Gospel just changed the face of a country and made history as 50 years of fighting ended in Mindoro, Philippines. After listening to Adventist World Radio’s broadcasts and taking the Gospel to heart, rebel fighters and assassins laid down their guns and made decisions for baptism.
