April 2021 President’s Report: “I Will Go!”
In Acts 2:36-38, Peter explains to the gathered crowd that the very Jesus they just crucified is really the Son of God sent to save the world. Horrified, the people reply, “What shall we do?” And Peter says those famous words, “Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins.” That’s our same message and commission today: preach and baptize. It’s what AWR is all about—and it’s what God’s last-day people are called to do! In this short video, I share one man’s incredible journey, and how God is calling His Church—you and me—to respond to that same calling today and say, “I will go!” —Duane McKey, President MB01JTRLQ2SGRM7 Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DyFJ_9wvNE
The Power of Forgiveness
Maria’s first husband was a respected pastor, but he was cruel and abused her until she wanted nothing more to do with God and the church. She walked away vowing never to return. Her second husband was a kind and loving man with whom she had two children and built a happy home. But alas, it would not last. He was in law enforcement, and one day they were ambushed by drug traffickers and he was gunned down as he protected her. Overcome by grief, Maria did the unthinkable—she sought the help of a medium to contact what she believed was the spirit of her dead husband. This brought her comfort at first, but what happened next will amaze you, because this is not a story about a set of tragic events, but an incredible story of redemption and forgiveness. Amazing Stories of God’s Intervention
One thing we especially enjoy during our staff meetings at Adventist World Radio is recounting the stories we receive on a daily basis from around the world. There is rejoicing and praise—and sometimes tears—as we share what God is doing and the lives that are being changed through the ministry of AWR. Below is a video compilation with just a few of these stories. They include: Madagascar: The powerful witch doctor who found refuge from the spirits by listening to AWR. Namibia (Part One): The son of a priest whose life spiraled out of control after his sister’s death, but now is a powerful evangelist for Jesus. Namibia (Part Two): How God answered a prayer for rain right in the nick of time—twice! Mexico: A young mother, abandoned by her husband and on the verge of suicide, finds hope in AWR’s cell phone messages. Tanzania: A cattle herder whose highlight of the day was listening to his radio at night—until one day he discovered a program in his own dialect that changed his life. These stories and many more are the reason we exist as a ministry—to share the gospel of the kingdom with every nation, kindred, tongue and people. What a privilege and what a responsibility! October 2020 President’s Report
Not long ago, someone asked me, “What difference does it make which day I worship God? After all, they’re all His days!” The problem is, when we ask the wrong question, we may end up with the wrong answer. Because the question I ask myself is: “What does God require of me? What is His preference in all things—including in how I worship?” Once we ask that question—and propose in our hearts to follow Him no matter what our opinion, our upbringing, or our tradition may be, He will guide us to all truth. As a result of AWR’s recent online evangelistic series, Unlocking Bible Prophecies 2.0, we’ve been receiving more questions about the Sabbath than ever before. We are told that “the Sabbath question is to be the issue in the great final conflict in which all the world will act a part.” (Counsels for the Church, p. 334) This means it’s imperative that we get it right—our lives may depend on it! Like the sower in the parable, we throw out the seed. Some may fall on hard or rocky ground, and some among the thorns, but some are finding fertile soil and bearing fruit for eternity. In this short video, I briefly review the Sabbath question from God’s perspective. What a privilege to share this wonderful message! That’s our commitment at Adventist World Radio—to lead others to Jesus and His truth. There is no higher calling, and no greater joy. —Duane McKey, President MB01GCMGFOJWRHP Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0OoL8em1oY
