Our Memory Text for this weeks’ lesson study suggests: Hymn 312, “Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross� along with Hymn 307, “I Am Coming to the Cross� . Sunday’s lesson states: “He simply cannot put the pen down until he pleads with the Galatians once more to turn from their foolish ways� and I am so thankful we have a Savior pleading for us: Hymn 284, “For You I Am Praying�. Tuesday comes back to the theme of the cross, giving a lot of hymns from which to choose, including the first two hymns in this writing. Hymn 154/155, “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross� Hymn 159, “The Old Rugged Cross� Hymn 237, “In the Cross of Christ I Glory� Hymn 303, “Beneath the Cross of Jesus� Hymn 325, “Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken� Hymn 362, “Lift High The Cross� to name just a few

Sabbath Afternoon’s introduction story to the lesson study immediately gives us: Hymn 369, “Bringing in the Sheaves” with the thoughts finalising in: “the Spirit leads us to put others before ourselves” and Hymn 262, “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” . The end of Sunday’s study points us to: Hymn 367, “Rescue the Perishing”

Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 11 Freedom in Christ

The first Bible text we open to on commencing our study this week, Gal 5:1 says “ It is for freedom that Christ has set us free …” (NIV) which brings us the following hymns: Hymn 292, “Jesus, I Come”, Hymn 345, “Christ Is the World’s True Light”, Hymn 460, “As Water to the Thirsty”, and Hymn 191, “Love Divine”. Gal 5:1 continues on: “ Stand firm, then ….” Hymn 610, “Stand Like the Brave” and Hymn 518, “Standing on the Promises” . Hymn 110, “God’s Free Mercy Streameth” is shown to us at the conclusion on Sunday’s study. Well-noted in Monday’s study is the statement: “ we do what we do because we already are His children ” giving us Hymn 101, “Children of the Heavenly Father” . One very short sentence in Tuesday’s lesson “ It is all or nothing ” rang the words of Hymn 309, “I Surrender All” loud and clear in my mind

Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 10: The Two Covenants

Hymn 109, “Marvelous Grace of our Loving Lord” comes directly from the introduction to the weeks’ lesson study and threads its way through the lesson study for the whole week. Sunday’s lesson states that “ God dealt with humanity by means of a series of covenant promises that centered on a coming Redeemer ” with these hymns enhancing this thought: Hymn 657, “O God, From Whom Mankind”, Hymn 347, “Built on the Rock”, Hymn 522, “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”

Singing with Inspiration – 9: Paul’s Pastoral Appeal

The introduction to our lesson study for this week shows that Paul appeals to the Galatians in a broad sense which “ shows just how important correct doctrine is.” There are two hymns that come to mind with this theme: Hymn 203, “This is the Three-Fold Truth” and Hymn 612 “Onward, Christian Soldiers” and we could go back to the little-used hymn used in Lesson 7, Hymn 277, “For Your Holy Book, We Thank You” . “The Heart of Paul” in Galations 4:12 urges us to “become as I am” – Hymn 313 or 314, “Just as I Am”
