Alumni of the year leave Pacific island legacy

Alastair and Jillian Macgillivray will be shocked when they realise Avondale Alumni is recognising their life work in the presentation of the Alumnus and Alumna of the Year awards at Homecoming 2018. But what else would we expect? The couple have lived lives of self-effacing service, much of it as volunteers in the Pacific islands, relying on God to open doors, provide food and resources and show the way.

With a little help from his friends

The relationships Calvin Chuang formed at Avondale created opportunities that exceeded his goals and enabled him to help people—the communicator’s filmed at hospitals and orphanages in Africa, Asia and South America and now directs the Alumni Association for the School of Medicine at Loma Linda University. The alumnus of 2008 receives a citation at Homecoming 2018 for dedication to helping people live fulfilling lives.

The pastoral and mission minister

Having completed the ministerial course, Pr Errol Wright left Avondale believing if God wanted him in the ministry, He would show the way, and He did. The Class of 1958 is now citing Errol at Homecoming 2018 for following God’s leading into pastoral and mission ministry.
