At the beginning of a new quarter, it’s time to plan for our 13th Sabbath offering which will go to the Euro Asia Division. In this post you will find some patterns for making 13th-Sabbath offering boxes for your family or for your whole church. “The Adventist Church is built on mission. Our commission comes from Christ, who told us to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” Mark 16:15, NIV. Sharing God’s love around the world is like a vehicle.

Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 1: The Apostle Paul in Rome

The introduction to this quarters lessons commences with Martin Luther (page 4), therefore, how could we not start with the amazing hymn written by him in 1529, Hymn 506, “A Mighty Fortress” . Our first Memory Text of the final quarter for 2017, brings to mind: Hymn 559, “Now Thank We All Our God” . Paul states “So have I strived to preach the gospel” (Romans 15:20 , 21) stirring our souls to sing Hymn 378, “Go, Preach My Gospel” . With all the many journeys of Paul, one can envisage Hymn 441, “I Saw One Weary” being sung as well as Hymn 568, “Make Me a Captive, Lord” . Wednesday’s lesson on Saints will share a number of hymns with us: Hymn 165, “Look You Saints! The Sight Is Glorious”, Hymn 409, “Jesus Invites His Saints”, Hymn 421, “For All the Saints”, Hymn 598, “Watch, Ye Saints” or Hymn 622, “Come, Come, Ye Saints” .

Sabbath: Here We Stand: Luther on Romans

Art by Lars Justinen Five hundred years ago this month, Martin Luther, a 33-year-old theology professor, posted his 95 Theses. And although he was seeking, at first, merely to refute a papal charlatan who was milking Luther’s flock by selling indulgences, Luther’s act of defiance became the spark that ignited the Protestant Reformation-and the world has never been the same since. Of course, much has changed since that day in 1517. But what has not changed is the Word of God and the truths in the Word that gave Luther the theological foundation to challenge Rome and to deliver to millions the great message of salvation by faith alone.

Monday: Paul’s Desire to Visit Rome

There’s no question that the personal touch is the best way to communicate in most cases. We can phone, email, text, even Skype, but face to face, flesh to flesh, is the best way to communicate. That’s why Paul announced in his letter to the Romans that he intended to see them in person.
