Commentary by Edwin Reynolds:
"What a beautiful character Joseph had! Though all his neighbors were pagan Egyptians, the young man Joseph remained true to the God of his father, Israel. When placed in a high position, Joseph realized that there was One higher than he. This showed me how important it is to have reverence for God implanted in our heart during our childhood. The fruits of having a good spiritual education in early age were shown later in Joseph’s character. I like how Joseph made the corn free for his brothers by hiding their money in their sacks. This reminds me of how the gift of salvation that God has given to you and me is free. We cannot buy salvation, for God has already paid the price. Like the brothers, we have nothing more to pay. And to think that many around us, especially here in Asia, have no idea about salvation! When the brother’s bowed to him Joseph remembered his early youthful prophetic dream. But the brothers didn’t remember it because they had never taken it seriously. And that makes me think of us. Will we recognize the fulfilment of prophecy around us if we have never taken seriously our opportunities to study it?" โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/42 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Edwin Reynolds:
"Genesis 41:16 "And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, ‘It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.’" After being a slave, falsely accused and thrown in prison, Joseph stood before a Pharaoh that praised him for his ability to interpret dreams. Yet Joseph humbled himself before this Pharaoh by admitting that it was beyond his ability to interpret dreams. It was God that could give Pharaoh the answers he desired. Throughout all the trials and hardship, Joseph did not get discouraged regarding God but he still trusted in Him with all his heart. As a human living in this sinful world, humility is unnatural to us. We often forget that God is the one who deserves all the praise. The story from Genesis 41 has really taught me that even though we are in the midst of trials, we must depend on God and trust Him. God has showed me through the story of Joseph that it is possible for us to commit our lives to God completely despite our sinful nature and natural selfishness. "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." Matthew 23:12" โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/41 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Edwin Reynolds:
"Joseph, blessed with God’s presence, had been faithful in small things. Yet his faith in choosing the right way seemed to be rewarded with a false accusation by a wicked woman! Solomon saw a pattern like this in life. “An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.” Proverbs 29:27. Joseph’s faith wasn’t immediately rewarded. More trials and imprisonment came despite his faithfulness even in the dungeon. Such an experience might cause you or me to become angry with God, or even leave Him! Hopefully Joseph’s story will save us from such sadness. Like many others, I tend to put my hope in man rather than in God, who holds the future. Humans may fail us but God will never fail us. I love this: “He is God who knows the heart of His people and their needs better than ourselves. Often our plans fail that God's plans for us may succeed.” Help in Daily Living 12" โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/40 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Edwin Reynolds:
"Joseph's response to Ms. Potiphar seems to be the apex of a theology of sexuality in the Pentateuch, and perhaps all of scripture. We read in vs 8 that Ms. Potiphar propositioned him "day after day" (vs 10), perhaps one of the first recorded cases of sexual harassment in history. In verse 9, Joseph reasons that Potiphar and he are equal in the household, except for ONE thing: Potiphar sleeps with Ms. Potiphar and Joseph does not. That one thing set Potiphar apart from Joseph. Joseph recognized this element as God's true ideal for sexual expression. Pleasure and babies are not the primary purpose for sexual expression. They are delightful bonuses. The purpose of sexual expression is to foster and maintain a sense of uniqueness between husband and wife. To yield to Ms. Potiphar's advances would not only violate her husband's trust in Joseph (and in her !) but would subvert the God-ordained uniqueness between husband and wife. Joseph thus proves morally superior to Judah when faced with the same temptation to sexual indulgence outside of marriage." โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/39 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by José Luis Jiménez:
"Education is an important purpose of the church, and one of its means to fulfill the mission of Jesus. Education of part of how the plan of redemption will reach its culmination. Christian education will have a well-defined purpose and is achieved by controlling learning situations to achieve that purpose. For its part, the church needs to understand God's plan and teach viable strategies to fulfill that plan. The church needs education to share God's eternal plan of redemption. To achieve the goal of redemption, the church and Christian educators must collaborate and integrate. Education is, then, an activity of the redeemed church that is tasked with sharing the redemption theme. Thus, the church is seen as a center of education. The knowledge that is sought, and that is shared, must be useful, diverse and practical, but above all it must collaborate with God's plan. Missionary knowledge must be sought and practiced. This knowledge will include mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual development centered in the theme of redemption. Of course, every believer is a receiver and disseminator of the knowledge of God's Plan. Instructed, encouraged, organized to serve, the church goes out to fulfill its mission. Where there is need, adapt educational curriculum. Consider areas in urgent need of improvement, such as purchasing wholesome food and cooking for health. Every new believer must receive transformational education that will equip them to be new channels of furthering transformative education. This is the task of the church of the end times."
