Commentary by Mark Finley:
"Genesis 4 depicts the dreadful consequences of uncontrolled anger. Cain’s unbridled emotions led him to kill his brother Abel. There are serious consequences when our emotions are out of control. Cain left his home, and wandered as a “fugitive and vagabond.” His life was changed in an instant. Poor choices, uncontrolled emotions and negative attitudes produce devastating consequences. Good choices, emotions under control, and positive emotions result in positive consequences. A life under the control of God’s Spirit is prepared to face any circumstance life presents with an attitude of calm assurance in God’s overriding purpose. One of the more fascinating questions asked in this Biblical narrative is asked by Cain. He queries, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Where our decisions impact others, the answer is a resounding, “yes.” Although we are not responsible for the choices “our brother” makes, we are responsible for the choices we make which influence the lives of those around us. This should give us pause as we consider the influence of our actions and attitudes." Commentary by Raul Lozano:
"Throughout Bible history, God has been calling His people to Him. Right after sin, He was close at hand in the garden to help get things restored. “Where are you?” God called to Adam (Genesis 3:9). The call of God is the call of salvation offered to sinners. Moved by grace, the Lord plans, organizes and executes salvation in order to “seek and save those who are lost” (Luke 19:10). And once sinners receive grace and respond to it, there is a second call for humans to listen to, the call to mission. The science of salvation includes calling all who have been saved to become links to extend the chain of grace until all humanity is covered. God structured salvation so that those who receive it turn into givers. Believers become witnesses; grace becomes mission. As in all sciences, the science of mission demands study and practice. A well-laid theoretical foundation is followed by methodology and technique. As this world experiences increasing globalization, the need for effective mission approaches also increases. Multiculturalism and diversity in our communities pose peculiar challenges which the students of mission must sort out. The good news is that the Master Scientist is with us all the way. In regards to the mission, He said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). Supervised and supported by God, students of mission will find ways to make disciples of all nations and help make the restoration of God’s kingdom a reality." Commentary by Mark Finley:
" Genesis 3 speaks powerfully to each one of us that choices have eternal consequences. The choice of our first parents in the Garden at the tree still impacts our world today millenniums later. Our personal choices not only affect us, they affect our families, friends, working associates and even generations to come. It is also interesting to observe that when Adam and Eve sinned they “sewed fig leaves together and made themselves a covering.”(verse 7) They learned quickly that substitutes will not do. There is only one remedy for sin- Jesus the slain Lamb. Sin produced excuses and blame. All meaningful change is based on our choice. Excuses will not do. Blame merely locks us in destructive behavior. Change occurs when we yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and respond to the initiative God takes to save us. In the Garden, God took the initiative. He sought out the fallen pair and graciously wooed them back to His loving heart. He did that for them and will do it for us too."

Commentary by Mark Finley:
"Genesis 2 introduces three vital principles, the Sabbath, marriage and choice. Let’s begin with the last of these three. The essence of what it means to be a human being is the capacity to choose. God did not create mechanized robots who serve Him because they were programmed too on some celestial computer. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was placed in the garden to allow for the expression of free will. It was God’s intent from the beginning that understanding His character and knowing His love and care, His children would joyfully serve Him. Our first parents were not predestined to fall but they were given the choice to obey or disobey. We have been given this same choice. The Sabbath calls us back to our roots each week. It reminds us of our loving Creator who made us to enjoy life to the fullest. Just as the Sabbath anchors our relationship with God, marriage solidifies the relationship between one man and one woman. The Sabbath and marriage are twin institutions from the Garden of Eden and the devil has viciously attacked them both. Faithfully keeping the Sabbath each week builds a solid foundation for our faith. It undergirds our relationship with God. A loving home and a rock solid Christian marriage reveal God’s love to both our family members and our circle of influence. How has the Sabbath or marriage enhanced your relationship with God? Share it with others on the blog?" Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/2 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Mark Finley:
"Genesis 1 sets the tone for the entire Bible. It establishes the fact that God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. In the Bible’s first chapter, God is revealed as Creator thirty-one times. There are three significant expressions to watch for in Genesis 1. They are “God said”, “God created”, and “God saw that it was good.” These expressions are full of meaning for our lives today. When God speaks, He creates. What God says is so even if it were never so before because when God says it, it becomes so. God’s spoken word is reality and the result of accepting what God says is “good.” God’s Word is a living, creative Word. When we believe what God said because of our confidence in the One who said it, the living, creative Word transforms our lives. All of the creative power which brought worlds into existence is in the Word of God. Are there ways which the Bible has spoken to your heart? Why not share them on the blog?"
