Commentary by Mark Finley:
"Genesis 6 records the story of the worldwide flood. Suppose you were Noah. What confidence it must have taken in God to begin building the ark against overwhelming odds. Noah not only began, he persisted for one hundred and twenty years building the ark. Think of the ridicule he endured. It had never rained before. Was this man crazy? The size of the undertaking was remarkable. What a task to cut the lumber and hoist it into position on this massive boat. Yet scripture says, “Thus Noah did according to all that God commanded Him….” (Genesis 6:22) What faith! What courage! There is another aspect of this story that is extremely significant. God declares that He will “establish His Covenant” with His people. God’s Covenant is His promise of His faithfulness and salvation. In the midst of the storm, God prepared an ark of safety. Jesus is our shelter in times of storm, our ark of safety, our refuge in times of trouble. What incredible good news– God’s Covenant is His eternal guarantee of our security in the ark of His grace." โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/6 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Mark Finley:
"Genealogies may not be the most interesting chapters in the Bible but they are filled with spiritual insights for the diligent student of scripture. One obvious fact in Genesis 5 is that Adam’s descendants lived long ages. It was common for these patriarchs to live for nine hundred years. Today if someone lives to one hundred we celebrate it as a grand achievement but Adam lived to 930, his son Seth lived to 912, and Methuselah to 969. This reveals a vital truth about God. Our Creator designed human beings to live forever. He created us with a certain vital force which even centuries after sin remained. What a mighty God He is. Here is another spiritual gem from Genesis 5. Enoch lived sixty five years and he and his wife had a baby boy who they named Methuselah. The Bible then explicitly states, “After he begot Methuselah, he (Enoch) walked with God…” (Genesis 5:22) Enoch’s love for his child revealed God’s deep love from him. It is through the deep bonds that bind us together with those we love that God’s love is fully revealed.
What spiritual gems do you find in this chapter? Why not share them with others on our blog?" โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/5 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Mark Finley:
"Genesis 4 depicts the dreadful consequences of uncontrolled anger. Cain’s unbridled emotions led him to kill his brother Abel. There are serious consequences when our emotions are out of control. Cain left his home, and wandered as a “fugitive and vagabond.” His life was changed in an instant. Poor choices, uncontrolled emotions and negative attitudes produce devastating consequences. Good choices, emotions under control, and positive emotions result in positive consequences. A life under the control of God’s Spirit is prepared to face any circumstance life presents with an attitude of calm assurance in God’s overriding purpose. One of the more fascinating questions asked in this Biblical narrative is asked by Cain. He queries, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Where our decisions impact others, the answer is a resounding, “yes.” Although we are not responsible for the choices “our brother” makes, we are responsible for the choices we make which influence the lives of those around us. This should give us pause as we consider the influence of our actions and attitudes." โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/4 Our accounts in other social networks:

Commentary by Raul Lozano:
"Throughout Bible history, God has been calling His people to Him. Right after sin, He was close at hand in the garden to help get things restored. “Where are you?” God called to Adam (Genesis 3:9). The call of God is the call of salvation offered to sinners. Moved by grace, the Lord plans, organizes and executes salvation in order to “seek and save those who are lost” (Luke 19:10). And once sinners receive grace and respond to it, there is a second call for humans to listen to, the call to mission. The science of salvation includes calling all who have been saved to become links to extend the chain of grace until all humanity is covered. God structured salvation so that those who receive it turn into givers. Believers become witnesses; grace becomes mission. As in all sciences, the science of mission demands study and practice. A well-laid theoretical foundation is followed by methodology and technique. As this world experiences increasing globalization, the need for effective mission approaches also increases. Multiculturalism and diversity in our communities pose peculiar challenges which the students of mission must sort out. The good news is that the Master Scientist is with us all the way. In regards to the mission, He said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). Supervised and supported by God, students of mission will find ways to make disciples of all nations and help make the restoration of God’s kingdom a reality." Commentary by Mark Finley:
"๐ Genesis 3 speaks powerfully to each one of us that choices have eternal consequences. The choice of our first parents in the Garden at the tree still impacts our world today millenniums later. Our personal choices not only affect us, they affect our families, friends, working associates and even generations to come. It is also interesting to observe that when Adam and Eve sinned they “sewed fig leaves together and made themselves a covering.”(verse 7) They learned quickly that substitutes will not do. There is only one remedy for sin- Jesus the slain Lamb. Sin produced excuses and blame. All meaningful change is based on our choice. Excuses will not do. Blame merely locks us in destructive behavior. Change occurs when we yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and respond to the initiative God takes to save us. In the Garden, God took the initiative. He sought out the fallen pair and graciously wooed them back to His loving heart. He did that for them and will do it for us too." โค๏ธ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/3 Our accounts in other social networks:
