Discouragement

Dear God: Be there for every person who is discouraged. For those who feel like giving up and calling it quits. For those who believe nothing turns out right for them. As the surge of wind lifts the tired bird, O Lord, may the flow of Your Holy Spirit lift every tired individual. Speak words of courage and grant strength to those who seem to have no reason to live. Let all know that You love them individually. In fact, so much that You gave Your “only begotten Son so that all may have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Father, be the light (Psalm 27:1) to all who dwell in darkness. Let everyone who is afraid know they can trust You (Psalm 56:3). You promised to deliver us from our fears and save us from our troubles (Psalm 34:4-7). Lord Jesus, I am counting on You to keep Your promise. I know You will and I thank You!
In Jesus’ name. Amen!

My Adversary

Dear God: I’m exhausted and feel like I’ve been fighting a war with one hand tied behind my back. I have misjudged my opponent. He knows me so much better than I know him. In fact, he’s been described as a roaring lion. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5:8.
Not only that, his work is 24/7. He never rests from trying to get us away from God. Revelation 12:10 reminds us that he accuses us before God day and night.
So what does that mean for me? Knowing that Satan’s whole design is to devour and destroy me, I must be vigilant and suspicious of constant danger. The Lord’s prayer should be my constant companion: Lead me not into temptation and deliver me from evil. I’ve got to believe that he’s ready to deliver me when I ask him.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
