May 12, 2019 By admin

Leonard Bailey, MD, the renowned Loma Linda University Health surgeon who garnered international media attention in 1984 for transplanting a baboon’s heart into a human infant known as “Baby Fae,” the research from which spawned human-to-human infant heart transplants and other cardiac treatment breakthroughs, died today at the age of 76 following a battle with cancer.
Bailey’s pioneering and controversial procedure became one of 1984’s biggest news stories, drawing daily attention of national…

San celebrates mums

May 12, 2019 By admin

In an early celebration for Mother’s Day, hundreds of moms, babies, doctors and midwives gathered on the front lawn of Sydney Adventist Hospital for the fifth annual San Teddy Bears Picnic.
Under sunny skies, the event featured special music, a complimentary morning tea and a “goodie bag” for each mom. The youngsters were entertained by children’s TV presenter Justine Clarke and a variety of other activities.
The Teddy Bears Picnic is an invitation-only event for mothers who have had a baby at…

Twelve-classroom building dedicated in India

May 11, 2019 By admin

One year after breaking ground at the Khunti Seventh-day Adventist School in India, the large 12-classroom Elementary Education Center (EEC) on campus is complete. Classrooms are crowded, elementary grades are scattered throughout campus, and there is no space large enough for the entire school to assemble. Deteriorating buildings are also a deterrent for existing and prospective…

No Shoes, No Parents

May 11, 2019 By admin

Antonio is 21 years old and very brave. He goes five days a week to the crowded Tacumbu prison in Paraguay’s capital, Asunción, to give Bible studies to 11 inmates.

Some of Antonio’s earliest memories are being beaten by his father. His parents cleaned houses for a wealthy man and cared for…

The Criers of Peace

May 2, 2019 By admin

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:3. The evil servant says in his heart, “My lord delayeth his coming.” He does not say that Christ will not come.
