This month, Southern Adventist University received a $50,000 grant from Lumina Foundation’s Fund for Racial Justice and Equity, a project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, to fund a multi-pronged project addressing racial justice and equity on campus. Project components include recording and sharing oral histories, inviting nationally-recognized speakers to Southern, funding creative student-led programs, and researching the impact of all these efforts on employee and student attitudes.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in the Dominican Republic recently finished the construction of a loading dock, built to help the family-owned fishing businesses in the Boba community of the Maria Trinidad Sanchez Province. 30 homes were destroyed and dozens of lives affected when a tidal wave caused by Hurricane Irma hit the coastal community in September.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in the Caribbean recently co-hosted psycho-social training for mental health professionals in St. Maarten to assist in building community resilience as the island still recovers from three hurricanes that hit last year. The training became the third major intervention by ADRA on the island, ADRA leaders said.
