Ethiopian Student failed 3 times because of Sabbath

The first two years of studies at Addis Ababa University flew by for Sintayehu Berhanu. But then a teacher scheduled the final statistics exam for Saturday. Without a passing grade, Sintayehu would not graduate.
The young Ethiopian had done well in the class, and he approached the teacher for help. “I believe that Saturday is the Sabbath,” he said. “I spend the whole day serving God. Can I stay in church?”

Adventists and War – 100 years on since Armistice Day, November 11, 2918.

It was called ‘the war to end all wars’.  Sadly, history tells another tale.  Despite the World War I (WWI) deaths of 17 million soldiers, with the injury of 21 million more, the Imperial War Museum in London records that war has taken place every single year since, killing an estimated 187 million people.
This week the world looks back 100 years to armistice day 1918 and the end of WWI.  Yet reflecting — and looking forwards — provides a paradox for Seventh-day Adventist Christians.

Adventist Community Services mobilizes support efforts in wake of Typhoon Yutu

Devastation brought on by the year’s strongest storm to date, which slammed into the Northern Mariana Islands on October 24, activated response efforts by Adventist Community Services (ACS) in the North American Division’s Guam-Micronesia Mission. As you are no doubt already sadly aware that on October 27, a gunman shouting “All Jews must die!,” opened fire on a Jewish congregation gathered to celebrate Shabbat at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Media are reporting eleven people dead, multiple more injured, in a scene of carnage being described as “horrific.” Let’s pray for the families and the survivors.

Presidential statement of condolence in light of recent violence

Over the past few days the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been deeply saddened by the news of violence and the loss of innocent lives due to prejudice and hate.
