In Memoriam: James M. Slater, pioneer of proton therapy, transformed cancer treatment

Slater, MD, whose determination to improve the quality of life for patients undergoing cancer treatment inspired him to use proton therapy for patient care and to champion and oversee creation of the world’s first hospital-based proton treatment center at Loma Linda University Health, died Dec. 26. Adventist student wins medal at Astronomy Olympics

Diogo Rodrigues da Silva (14), a student at Esteio Adventist Academy in Rio Grande do Sul, was among the three winners of the Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad (OBA). The test, for students from the sixth to ninth year of Elementary School in public and private schools, took place during the month of May.
