November 23, 2017: Sonya Carson, the mother of Ben Carson, current United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, passed away earlier this month. Ben Carson, an Adventist, announced his mother’s November 6 death in a Facebook post the same day.

Dear God: This is the time of year that we think about earth’s harvest, good food, and being with family. Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year in the United States. If possible, many want to be home for Thankgiving! Thank you for giving us a hunger for meaningful relationships.
Thanksgiving is all about being thankful. Too bad it only lasts one day! If we could only be thankful the rest of the year how different our world would be. How different we would be. Please give me an attitude of gratitude. Help me to view life as a glass that’s half-full instead of one that’s half-empty.
Thank you for good food to eat and for the loved ones sitting around my table. Thank you for the promise of a glorious homecoming in heaven that will include everyone who has ever lived and believed in You, and has accepted You as their Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ name. Amen!
