Students excited to be out of tents and into new classrooms

Eight months after Tropical Cyclone Gita devastated Tonga, life has mostly returned to normal for students at Seventh-day Adventist schools in the Pacific Island nation.
During a visit to Tonga earlier this month, Trans Pacific Union Mission associate education director Mele Vaihola found most of the damaged buildings had been rebuilt and students were excited to be in their new classrooms.

Young hikers take gospel to Solomon Islands’ jungles

It all began in 2014 when a group of young people from the capital of the Solomon Islands went on a hike in a mountainous jungle.
The young people — belonging to Ambassadors, the stage after Pathfinders Master Guide and for ages 16 to 21 — met a single mother living with her children in a hovel. Touched by her plight, they handed over their food and spare clothes.

Church plants don’t happen by accident

A strategic decision to employ specialist discipleship coaches in Scandinavia and the Balkan regions of south east Europe is bearing fruit. An intensive four-day workshop in Serbia means 20 pastors from seven countries are now equipped and energized to plant churches in their local areas.
Nikolaus Satelmajer and Simon Martin were appointed as Discipleship Coaches in October last year and, since taking office, have both been involved in a careful listening and mentoring exercise.

Adventist Church presents new ‘I Will Go’ strategic plan

The Seventh-day Adventist Church unveiled a five-year strategic plan called “I Will Go” and approved an updated mission statement that aims to more closely reflect the wording of Jesus’ Great Commission.
