Adventist awarded Medal of the Order of Australia

Many years of service to his local community has seen an Adventist man recognized in the 2019 Australia Day honors.
Robert (Bob) Kalaf was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of his services to the Cooranbong (northern NSW) community, including building the Waratah Medical Center, and helping to establish the Cooranbong shopping village and Morisset industrial estate. 12-year-olds heart stops for an hour

Twelve-year-old Naomi Felicia Maftei was running late to church school in Constanta, Romania.
Knowing that she had already missed morning worship, she rushed straight to her classroom. The teacher stopped her at the door.
“You have to go to worship,” she said.

In Jamaica, civic leaders praise Northern Caribbean University for Godly Heritage

Civic leaders in Manchester praised Northern Caribbean University (NCU) for its sterling contribution to the community and the wider Jamaica during a recent thanksgiving service to mark the institution’s 100th year in the parish.

Adventists help following government shutdown

The federal government shutdown at the end of 2018/beginning of 2019 stopped the paychecks of 800,000 federal government employees. Seventh-day Adventists in the DMV are working to lessen the blow. 
After hearing of increased reports of federal workers struggling to feed their families, staff at Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington (ACSGW), hosted a Pop Up Pantry for furloughed workers where they shared food with more than a dozen people.

Museum uses 50 thousand items to tell Pathfinders’ history

One of the main attractions at the fifth South American Pathfinder Camporee is a special booth dedicated to Pathfinder Club history. Thanks to donations from 56 countries, a collection of more than 50 thousand items from the Pathfinder International Museum is on display. 
Among these objects are pictures, uniforms, and manuals, as well as 7,500 event patches—including nearly all Camporees conducted by the Adventist Church in South America. There are only five patches left to complete the…
