12-year-olds heart stops for an hour

Twelve-year-old Naomi Felicia Maftei was running late to church school in Constanta, Romania.
Knowing that she had already missed morning worship, she rushed straight to her classroom. The teacher stopped her at the door.
“You have to go to worship,” she said.

Balakovo Adventist community ends year with special thanksgiving service

The Balakovo Adventist Church in Russia’s Saratov region held a special thanksgiving service on December 30 to end the year with parishioners and community guests.  New Year’s is the time of summing up, when people look back and analyze the outgoing year and make plans for the future. The Balakovo community is grateful to God for all the blessings granted in 2018.

Alternative to open-heart surgery now available at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta

Surgeons at Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta performed the hospital’s first transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedure — or TAVR — on January 14.  Currently, it is the only hospital in the region to offer this non-invasive heart procedure to patients in the community.

Adventists help following government shutdown

The federal government shutdown at the end of 2018/beginning of 2019 stopped the paychecks of 800,000 federal government employees. Seventh-day Adventists in the DMV are working to lessen the blow. 
After hearing of increased reports of federal workers struggling to feed their families, staff at Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington (ACSGW), hosted a Pop Up Pantry for furloughed workers where they shared food with more than a dozen people.

Church Territory in East-Central Africa Surpasses 4 Million Members

In his report to the members of the Executive Committee of the East-Central Africa Division (ECD) of Seventh-day Adventists, Executive Secretary Alain Coralie stated that the territory now has more than four million members. His report included the fact that at the beginning of third quarter 2015, membership was 3,116,320. ECD membership now stands at 4,097,347.
